Session 6

Mary Mother of Jesus

From Eve & Adam: 30-Day Bible Study

Mary desired and asked for God's will to be fulfilled in her life, no matter the cost. God's will for Mary's life involved a life threatening circumstance because in Jewish tradition women who were unwed could be stoned to death for conceiving prior to marriage.  But Mary's eyes weren't focused on her circumstances; they were focused on her God.  She counted the cost and desired God's ways over her own dreams, her family's hopes, and society's expectations.  Mary knew her purpose in life was to serve God and obey His every command.

Maybe God's provision did not look exactly like Mary imagined, but I know that God far exceeded her expectations.  Mary was rewarded for her obedience, she is called blessed among women, she gave birth to our Savior and was the only human to be with Jesus at His birth and death. Mary had many roles and titles throughout her life but she found her identity as “The Lord’s servant”. God in His sovereignty protected, loved, and cared for Mary, His servant and He will do the same for you!

1. Are you willing to let the Lord use you as His servant today?

2. Are you willing to be obedient no matter the cost? What does that look like?
