Found People Find People

I don't know about you, but when I find a restaurant that has that perfect combination of great food and great service, I tell everyone I know about it. That restaurant isn't paying me to tell people about it; I'm doing it because of the positive experience I had there, and I get pleasure from sharing that experience.

When we experience the life-changing power of Jesus Christ, we should be just as passionate about telling others about that too. For many of us, however, that is extremely difficult. Satan is a master at convincing us that it's not appropriate to talk about Jesus to our unbelieving friends and neighbors. It’s okay to mention God in an abstract kind of way, like saying "Thank God for this beautiful day" or "God bless you" when someone sneezes, but saying the name of Jesus is another thing entirely. Or maybe Satan has you convinced that someone might ask you a question about the Bible or Jesus that you don’t know the answer to. I have been guilty of believing that lie more than once.

The best example of how to introduce your friends to Jesus is found in John 1:35-51. John the Baptist is standing with two of his disciples when Jesus walks by. John declares to them “Look, there is the Lamb of God” (John 1:36). Immediately they both start to follow Jesus.

NewSpring is a church where the Gospel is preached every Sunday. If you want someone to meet Jesus, bring them to a place where they can hear the truth about him. Don’t just invite them; BRING them! Offer to take them to lunch afterward. Whatever it takes, get them to a place they can meet Jesus!

  • Do you find it uncomfortable to talk to your unchurched friends or neighbors about Jesus? Have you invited them to come to church with you?
  • Pray this: Heavenly Father, give me the courage to step out of my comfort zone and tell my neighbor about what Jesus has done in my life. And thank you for loving me more than I can understand. In Jesus’s name, Amen.
