Get Everything You Wanted And More

We all have wants and desires. Maybe you’re searching for more money, more authority at work, less stress, or a better relationship. We pray for the results we want to see, read how-to guides, and put our time, energy and effort into achieving our goals.

But how often do we actually just stop and ask for what God wants for us?

In 2 Chronicles 1, Solomon had the opportunity to ask God for anything he wanted. While Solomon could have asked for wealth, fame, authority, or even an easier task from God, he asked for God's wisdom. Solomon’s sole request was to have the knowledge to lead God’s people. Because of Solomon’s selflessness, God recognized him and gave him immeasurably more. God not only gave Solomon wisdom, God gave Solomon wealth, riches, and honor as well.

In Matthew 6:33, Jesus promises that when we seek God first, everything we really need will also be given to us. Jesus doesn't guarantee that we'll end up rich, famous or powerful like Solomon, but He does promise that we will be rewarded for our obedience when we follow God's wisdom. When we put God and other people's needs in front of our own, we can rest assured that God will take care of our needs as well.

  • If you knew God would give you anything, what would you ask for?
  • In what area of your life do you struggle most with relying on God's wisdom?
  • Do your prayers need to change to be more selfless? If so, how?
