God is Great. God is Green

God is into recycling. Not cardboard and plastic – but experiences. The point of recycling is to reuse so that nothing is wasted, right? In His economy, nothing is intended for waste. Not even our pasts. Not even our sin. Not even the ugly in our lives. Romans 8:28 reminds us that “in all things God works for the good of those who love Him, who have been called according to His purpose.” All things means ALL THINGS when we offer them to Him to use! There is nothing in our lives that God doesn’t want to use for our own good and then reuse for the benefit of others.

Paul’s life is the perfect example. Paul was a murdering religious leader. He killed Christians. He stood boldly as an enemy of God. And in one encounter with Jesus, Paul’s world was changed. Isn’t that so like Jesus? Paul began to preach about Jesus; initially his audience was understandably frightened, and then they marveled. In Galatians 1:22-24, Paul says,“I was personally unknown to the churches in Judea that are in Christ. They only heard the report: ‘The man who formerly persecuted us is now preaching the faith he once tried to destroy.’ And they praised God because of me.”

God has huge plans for us – including our pasts when we are willing to hand them over. He wants to heal us of past hurt, forgive us of past sin, and then equip us through His Spirit to reuse our pasts for the benefit of others.
