Joy Set Before Us

We spend so much time hoping in the wrong things and because of it, we are often disappointed. If we place hope in material possessions, eventually we experience some type of bankruptcy. If we place hope in the next relationship, eventually we experience loneliness. Hebrews 11:1 says, “Now faith is being sure of what we hope for and certain of what we do not see.” We can have complete confidence in our future when we fix our eyes on Jesus. Jesus will not disappoint. That doesn’t mean that following Jesus means a worry-free life of luxury. We can look at Jesus and see that life is sometimes tough. The Bible says that “…for the joy set before him endured the cross…” He was able to fulfill His purpose because He knew what was ahead. We, too, can believe that God has set joy before us. When we have faith that joy is set before us, we can endure hardship, persecution and pain. We can fulfill our purpose knowing that God sees our future with as much clarity as we see our present. He will not disappoint!
