Acts 3:1-4:13

Have you ever had an incredible opportunity placed before you? I was recently
given the opportunity to spend two nights in a beautiful vacation home. Someone
covered the expenses for my family. We relaxed and explored the beautiful
land around us. On the last day of the vacation, we had the opportunity to try
something we had never tried before…kayaking. I never imagined myself in
a kayak, but now I was having one of the best times of my life. Kayaking was
unfamiliar, a little scary but very exciting. How did I get to this point? I accepted
an invitation and was put in a position to do what I hadn’t imagined before.

Peter and John found themselves in places they had never imagined being,
doing what they couldn’t have done on their own. They had believed and a man
was healed. After this healing had taken place, Peter and John boldly shared the
Gospel with the rulers and teachers of the law and “when they saw the courage
of Peter and John and realized that they were unschooled, ordinary men, they
were astonished and they took note that these men had been with Jesus.” (Acts

We are no different than Peter and John. We have received the same opportunity
to follow Jesus. Jesus wants to show us amazing things too. He wants to do for us
what we can’t do for ourselves. Saying “yes” to Jesus’ forgiveness is an awesome
opportunity, but God will continue to present new opportunities that stretch our faith.
When we say “yes” to the opportunities He places in our lives we will find ourselves
in unfamiliar, exciting places, doing things we have never imagined or been able to do.
