Listening to the Right Voices

The voices we choose to listen to can define us.

We are all surrounded by voices. Many of  them offer us Godly wisdom and advice. The advice they offer comes from time spent reading the Bible, listening to God and doing what He says. Many of them offer advice that comes from the world apart from God’s wisdom. These voices may tell us “if it feels good, do it” or “just follow your heart.” Whether we choose to listen to Godly wisdom or the advice the world gives can determine the paths our lives will follow.

Proverbs 5:7-14 is a warning about what can happen when we choose to turn our backs on Godly wisdom. Listening to the advice the world gives will leave us on the brink of utter ruin.

The good news is that it is never too late to begin to listen to wisdom. We can seek out the people around us who are wise and learn from them. We can read the Bible every day and learn from it. We can begin to listen to God and do what He says. Proverbs 4:6 says, “Do not forsake wisdom, and she will protect you, love her, and she will watch over you.”

When we begin to listen to the wisdom God offers and apply it to our lives, we will never regret the results. We will begin to live our lives with purpose, and we will make decisions that have a positive impact on our own lives and on the lives of others.
