Session 2
I will always take care of you
From Promises: A 30-Day Devotional
Keep your lives free from the love of money and be content with what you have, because God has said,
'Never will I leave you;
never will I forsake you.'
- Hebrews 13:5
Trust is difficult to give, especially when it comes to money and stuff. Trusting a friend with your car opens you up to financial liability. Trusting your teammate with a project could put your career on the line.
Trust makes us vulnerable, and no one likes to feel vulnerable. God knows this about us, which is why He promises to never forsake us. We trust God with the future because He will always take care of us. We don’t have to worry about if we’ll get the job or if we’ll have enough because God promises to be with us. And He will always be enough.
Reflect:
- Is there any area of your life where you are not content? Where did that discontentment come from?
- What would it look like to trust God in that situation?
- Do your feelings about the future change knowing God will not leave you or forsake you? Why or why not?
