Something to Believe In

Proverbs 20:11 says, “Even small children are known by their actions, so is their conduct really pure and upright?”

Our actions tell others what we believe. Take flying, for example. The number of airplanes above any major airport indicates we believe air travel is safe. We believe these multi-ton aircrafts will take off and defy gravity to maintain flight and deliver us safely to our destinations. So we continue to buy airline tickets, endure the security checks and buckle up in close quarters to soar through the air. Our actions demonstrate confidence in these vessels and their pilots.

In the same way, when we believe Jesus Christ is the Son of God, this belief shows in surrendered control to Him, displayed through our daily actions.

Jesus promises His presence in us produces “love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control” (Galatians 5:22-23). Each morning we can surrender to Jesus’s control, and He will never fail to empower our actions. Growing people change, becoming more like Jesus each day.

  • Do you believe Jesus Christ is the Son of God? If not, your next step could be to accept Him as your Savior.
  • What is one way your actions convey your belief in Jesus and your choice to follow Him?
  • What is one way your actions have changed as you have grown closer to Jesus in your relationship with Him?
