Steps of Obedience

Acts 19

As Paul enters Ephesus, there is no commotion; the city is quiet and everything is business as usual. It wasn’t until God showed up that the city of Ephesus began to turn upside down. Paul’s obedience to tell others about Jesus changed the city! God’s presence always brings change.

The God that moved in Ephesus two thousand years ago is the same God that has been moving through our church all across South Carolina. God is building His Church in cities across our state through people committed to His word. Small steps of obedience bring about great moves of God—not because we are strong, but because He is faithful.

God doesn’t use perfect people to change the world; He uses people who are committed to His word and obedient to His voice. Thousands of people all across South Carolina are taking their next steps. People are meeting Jesus, getting baptized, reading their bibles, growing up and reaching others. Miracles are happening before our eyes each and every day! God is doing exactly what He promised He would do; He is building His church.

Paul’s step of obedience changes Ephesus forever. When it comes to next steps, we don’t need to worry about the outcome but focus on the obedience. If we are obedient in taking next steps, God will take care of the rest. God was just getting started in Ephesus like he is just getting started in His Church today. The best is yet to come!
