Unsettled

“So in the morning his spirit was troubled, and he sent and called for all the magicians of Egypt and all its wise men. Pharaoh told them his dreams, but there was none who could interpret them to Pharaoh.” - Genesis 41:8

Have you ever had a moment where you just wished you knew the answer? It could be the anxious hours awaiting a phone call from a job interview or a test result. Pharaoh’s dreams made him anxious, but no one seemed to be able to help — until he sought the counsel of a godly man: Joseph.

Seeking counsel from godly people is a godly action. You can’t do life alone is a core principle of our church for a reason. When we internalize our problems, we get stuck. We remain anxious and unsettled. Pharaoh did not internalize his problems, but sought answers. In seeking answers, Pharaoh met Joseph, who was able to help him plan for seven years of famine.

Where you feel unstable, God wants to provide stability. God wants us to be prepared when our times of “famine” arise. Do not waste another day feeling unsettled. Find the Joseph in your life and let that person counsel and encourage you.

Reflect:

  • What has you unsettled? When was the last time you opened up to someone else about your struggles?
  • Do you have any godly friends you can go to to talk about what makes you anxious? If you feel like you don’t, ask the Lord to reveal to you who He wants you to live life with, then ask those people to be your counsel.
