What We Carry

Acts 9:15

This week in Daily Devotionals we are going to look at evangelism in scripture! We are asking God to save 3,000 people at NewSpring Church, and all of us are going to have to move out of our comfort zone to see this happen. As you pray through the Pray for 3k guide and read devotionals about evangelism, think about who YOU should invite to church this weekend.

Acts 9

Often we ask ourselves the question, “What does God want me to do in my life?” We constantly question what relationship, what job or what school to pursue. However, as was the case in the conversion of Saul, God is more concerned with what we carry than where we go.

God will give us direction for our lives as he did in this story, saying that Saul will “proclaim my name to the Gentiles and their kings and to the people of Israel.” But the purpose for Saul, the purpose for all of us, is that wherever we go, we carry the name of Jesus.

This is not to say that God does not care where we go. He loves us and has great specific plans for us, but regardless of the location or job or plan, He wants us to carry the name of Jesus. It does not matter whether we go to Africa as a missionary or to New York as a lawyer, our purpose in what we do is to carry Jesus’ name. We may not know where God is leading us next, but we do know that wherever that is, we will carry the name of Jesus. This week in your job, school, and chores, carry the name of Jesus. Be willing to have awkward conversations and go for the ASK.
