Who Are You For?

In America today, pluralism reigns supreme. While relativism used to be the norm—the belief that all truth is relative to the person believing it, making each person’s ideology OK for them—pluralism takes relativism even further. Now each person’s beliefs aren’t merely acceptable for them, but everyone’s beliefs are equally true. All worldviews are tolerated and given equal weight. In such an environment, a claim to absolute truth is the highest offense.

God’s truth, however, is stubborn and immovable. The Bible shows us the right way and the wrong way; the path of righteousness is at odds with the path of sin. The idea that all paths lead to the same place is a lie. We are either obedient to God or disobedient to God.

Scripture tells us that “Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever” (Hebrews 13:8), and that “the Lord God Almighty ...was and is and is to come” (Revelation 4:8). Our God, the one true God, never changes and He demands that we pick a side. Jesus told us “Whoever is not with me is against me, and whoever does not gather with me scatters” (Matthew 12:30). Either we are with Him, or we are against Him. There is no neutrality, no pluralism or relativism with God. We must decide, do we want to be on God’s team or another team? Jesus is one choice, everything else is the other. We cannot have Jesus plus anything.
