The Lord Answers Prayers

Overview: 2 Kings 18-20, John 5:1-24

Hezekiah trusts the Lord. The king of Assyria challenges Hezekiah not to trust in his God because Assyria had conquered many other nations. But as he prays for deliverance from the Assyrians, the Lord answers his prayer in a mighty way.

Jesus heals the lame man at the pool on the Sabbath, causing opposition from the Pharisees. Jesus performing this sign and calling God "my father" testify to His authority as the Son.

Observation and Activation
“So now, O Lord our God, save us, please, from his hand, that all the kingdoms of the earth may know that you, O Lord, are God alone.” - 2 Kings 19:19

Hezekiah prayed to the Lord when he faced the arrogant Assyrians and when he faced a fatal illness. Both times he asked the Lord to deliver him, and God answered his requests in supernatural ways.

The Jewish authorities opposed Jesus’ claims of equality with God. But Jesus made it clear that only through faith in Him as the Son can we escape judgment and receive eternal life.

Do you go to God with your concerns, trusting that He will answer your prayers, no matter how desperate they seem? Have you trusted Jesus with your eternal life?
