God’s Chosen People
Overview: Ezekiel 35-36, 1 Peter 2
After the fall of Jerusalem, Ezekiel continues to promise God’s restoration of Israel. He prophesies against the people of Edom because of the harm they caused to Israel and Judah. Not only did God promise to judge the Edomites, but any nation that attacked God’s people or their land.
Peter calls all persecuted and exiled Christians to live out their salvation in their daily lives. Those who have faith in Jesus are chosen to be holy and to tell the world about the goodness of God.
Just as Israel was a kingdom of priests to the nations around them (Exodus 19:5-6), we are to live as exiles to bring glory to God in a hostile world.
"But you are a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people for his own possession, that you may proclaim the excellencies of him who called you out of darkness into his marvelous light." - 1 Peter 2:9
