Fuse Toolkit: "Getting to Know the Real You"

Watch Video

The Next Nine Weeks at Fuse

Tim Keller says, “Our need for worth is so powerful that whatever we base our identity and value on we essentially ’deify.’ We will look to it with all the passion and intensity of worship and devotion, even if we think of ourselves as highly irreligious.”

We are all worshipping something. We are all finding our identity somewhere. The question is where?

With so many different people telling us who we are, or who we should be, how do we know who’s right?

We think the One who made us should get to define us. So Fuse is going to the Bible to see who God says we are. Use this toolkit to see what to expect in the next nine weeks and to start conversations around identity.

Key Verses

  • “So God created man in his own image, in the image of God he created him; male and female he created them...And God saw everything that he had made, and behold, it was very good” (Genesis 1:27 and Genesis 1:31, ESV).
  • “For you formed my inward parts; you knitted me together in my mother’s womb. I praise you, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made. Wonderful are your works; my soul knows it very well” (Psalm 139:13-14, ESV).

The Big Takeaway

True identity is knowing and receiving who God says I am.

Identity Crisis (Study)
This five-day study looks at how sin fractures our God-given identity. Jesus not only saved us from our sin; He also restored our identity to the way God intended it to be.

Our net worth is not determined by what we earn. Our worth is determined by whose we are.

Knowing who we are changes how we see ourselves and how we respond to the situations life throws our way.

God is already pleased with you (Article)
For many people, having a father has been a lot of work. Making our fathers proud seems ingrained in us from birth, but we rarely, if ever, feel like we’ve accomplished that goal.

Helpful tips and reminders

  • Leaders, love your students by getting to know their parents. Getting to know students’ parents builds trust and unity, and ultimately, allows you to better lead your students.
  • Leaders, don’t go at it alone. Leading a Fuse Group can get heavy. Lean into your campus staff for help setting boundaries and expectations. Seek wisdom from leaders above you and around you.
  • Looking for an opportunity to hang out outside of Fuse? Go to Connect Classes together! This is a great opportunity to spend time with students as they learn about God’s promise and get connected to the larger church.
  • Make plans to be at Gauntlet 2020. Volunteer sign-ups are open for Gauntlet 2020! Apply here
