Prayer for Our Nation
On Sunday, May 17, our nation’s leaders have called for a day of prayer, fasting, humiliation, and the rededication of the United States as one nation under God. If you’re wondering how to engage in this day and what our role as believers is in this national moment, you’re not alone. In a politically charged culture, the opportunity for unified prayer is not about being left or right, but kingdom down, in how we pray for our country. As our country prepares to observe a day of intentional fasting and prayer, we can do so with excitement about what God has planned through this unified expression of prayer and humility across the nation. As a church, we want to lead the way as prayerful peacemakers, believing in hope that God can bring unity and peace to our nation and the world through Jesus Christ.
As we read in 1 Timothy, God is pleased with the supplications, prayers, and intercessions made for all people. Will you join us in prayer this week for our nation and its leaders, our men and women in uniform, the Church in America, and the world, and for repentance to spring up—starting in our own hearts and spreading throughout our nation as a lightpost to the world for the gospel?
