Destiny was facing 35 years in prison when God changed her life
For the first 37 years of my life, I rejected God and lived by my own will. This led me into toxic relationships and addictions. By 2015, I was twice divorced, my children were living with family members, and I was in jail facing 35 years in prison. Jesus came into that jail cell and sat with me. He is so faithful that He used the horrible circumstance of jail to draw me to Him.
It took me a few years, but in 2018, I was strong enough to leave my comfortable but toxic relationship and go to a women’s refuge where I became homeless. I had no clue what this leap of faith would do, but I knew what God was telling me to “seek first the kingdom of God...and all else will be added to you” (Matthew 6:33). I immediately stopped using substances and started reading my Bible. I haven’t stopped reading, and He has not stopped adding.
Today, my life is full of hope. I get to work in a place where I share my experience with other women and show them the pathway to freedom that saved my life: Jesus. He has restored my family to a place even better than before the trauma or addiction. My children have a mom now—a NEW mom—and they have seen what the power of God can do.
Today, my life is full of hope.
I began going to school and made the dean’s list, started saving and tithing, stepped into a new role at work, and am impacting lives more than I ever thought possible. I could go on and on. God shows up in my everyday circumstances. He speaks to me through His word and the Church. He confirms and reaffirms what He impresses upon me. The fact that the Creator of our universe wants to communicate with me makes me feel more loved and valued than anything this world could offer. His empowerment has allowed me to break the strongholds Satan placed upon my life and walk in freedom. God has completely redeemed me and set me free from who I once was. Thank you, Jesus!
