Jack and Jane Muir were married but sleeping in separate bedrooms. For 8 years, unresolved conflict and little to no communication drove them apart. Anger and bitterness always lingered.
Most days Jack would do his thing, and Jane would do hers. Jack thought they had a good marriage because he provided financially. But Jack failed to see Jane’s desperation to connect emotionally.
Jane was ready to give up and move back in with her parents in Ohio.
One day Jack received a flyer in the mail from NewSpring Church. The flyer read, “Considering divorce? Don’t give up until you’ve heard this 6-week series.”
It’s amazing how you can point to a single event and realize how it changed the lives of two people. -Jack
Jack wondered if there was still hope for their marriage and decided to attend a service. The experience was so powerful that he mustered up the courage to ask Jane to go with him the following week.
Because of Jack’s effort to take the lead, Jane thought it was worth one last shot to save their marriage.
After the 6-week series, Jack learned to talk to his wife in a way that made her feel loved and appreciated. Jane realized she had unrealistic expectations for her husband that only Jesus could fulfill.
Nine years later, Jack and Jane see how God brought NewSpring into their lives at the perfect time to save their marriage.
"It’s amazing how you can point to a single event and realize how it changed the lives of two people," Jack says.
