Surrender Is Just The Beginning
From Colossians: A 28-Day Devotional
Whether you stood to surrender to Jesus as an adult, were led in prayer by a camp counselor as a teen or grew up knowing His love as a child, we are all blessed and unworthy. Each of us has a story about how we came to know and receive Christ, but our story doesn't end there. The surrender is just the beginning!
Paul shares our purpose: "(to) continue to live your lives in Him, rooted and built up in him, strengthened in the faith as you were taught, and overflowing with thankfulness" (Colossians 2:6-7). When we launch off that starting block, we should see our priorities change and our hearts tune in with what God values. We begin investing selflessly in relationships and sharing the Gospel as we "are rooted and established in (His) love" (Ephesians 3:17).
God knows every single thing we have done or will do against Him, yet He chooses to love and bless us in ways we can't even imagine, much less deserve. We can't even begin to "grasp how wide and long and high and deep is the love of Christ" (Ephesians 3:18). From His mercy and goodness, our hearts should be overflowing with thankfulness.
