Session 24
God Keeps His Promises
From Hebrews: A 24-Day Devotional
Little toes stick out over the water’s edge. Little fingers twist a lock of hair. The water is deep, and she has never jumped off before. After a few minutes of hesitating and doubting, she jumps in, only because her Daddy is waiting, arms outstretched. He says, “I promise I’ll catch you. Jump. I’m right here.”
Deuteronomy 31:8 reminds us, “The Lord himself goes before you and will be with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged.” Life, like the water the little girl faces, is uncertain and scary. Despite this, we, like the little girl, can jump into what God calls us to do. God is here, holding His arms out, reassuring us.
Hebrews 6:18 reminds us, “it is impossible for God to lie,” so “we who have fled to take hold of the hope set before us may be greatly encouraged.” Don’t be afraid of life and its uncertainties. God has said He will be with us and He always keeps His promises.
Reflect:
- How has God kept His promises to you in the past?
- What do you need to trust God with today?
