It is easy to look at the places where we fall short and get discouraged. Our sins and failures can make us feel like we are not good enough and will never be close to God. We want to do everything right, but we will never be perfect.
Before Jesus’ death on the cross and resurrection, the Jews tried to make themselves right with God by following all the rules and offering animal sacrifices when they failed. But, God had a better plan. He sacrificed His only Son, so that our sins would be paid for once and for all, and we could have a relationship with Him.
The book of Hebrews was written approximately 30 years after Jesus’ resurrection to help people understand that connecting with God isn’t about following a list of the rules, it is about following Jesus.
