Session 8
Take A Risk
From Hebrews: A 24-Day Devotional
Remember the first time you rode a bike without training wheels or the first time you drove a car? You were probably nervous and lacked confidence. Venturing into something new requires faith in our ability and in the person teaching us.
This is true when we’re learning to drive and in our spiritual lives. How many of us struggle to take a risk in our walk with Jesus? The risks can vary from tithing to moving your family to a third world country to do foreign missions. Risks will require faith, but we don’t arrive at this kind of faith by accident.
Reading the Bible and prayer are two simple ways to prepare for acts of faith. Reading God’s word is how we learn that God is faithful. Speaking to God and taking time to listen for Him to respond is where we gain clarity on what He wants us to do. Without Biblical preparation, we will be crippled by worldly fears.
Reflect:
- What does it look like for you to prepare your faith for the future?
- What is one area of your life where you know Jesus is asking you to take a risk?
