April shared the Gospel with her son, and unexpectedly encouraged someone else in the process

I remember praying before Samuel was born that he would one day accept Jesus into his life. In the blink of an eye, Samuel was at Fuse.

Even when Fuse seemed so far away for our family, we saw the importance of giving to this ministry because we knew the impact Jesus can have on this age group. Now, Samuel is in Fuse and is part of a Fuse Group led by Ben and Bray — young men who are an answer to our prayer for Samuel. Growing up, Samuel mentioned many times that he would “ask Jesus into his heart every day,” but I was never really certain he understood the concept of salvation.

During The Weekend, Ben and Bray asked me if Samuel could take his next step and get baptized, but I voiced my concern of whether he was actually saved. They understood and asked that I follow up with Samuel. When I returned to work on Monday after The Weekend, I asked for prayers from the nurses I work with. I asked them to pray for me to have the right words to say to possibly lead my son to Christ when I got home that night.

I remember praying before Samuel was born that he would one day accept Jesus into his life.

As I was requesting these prayers, I turned around to see one of my nurses in tears saying that she wasn’t sure she had ever actually asked Jesus into her heart. I told her just as I wanted Samuel to believe, I wanted her to believe as well. She promised to come to church to learn more about Jesus, and I pray she decides to accept Jesus one day, too.

After getting home from work that night, Samuel and I walked to my parent’s house. As we were returning home, I asked him about his experience at The Weekend and told him that I wanted to make sure he had asked Jesus into his heart before getting baptized. We stopped on the side of the road, and — right then and there — Jesus gave me the words to help Samuel ask Him to come into his heart. I am beyond thankful that I got to be a part of the best decision my son will ever make!
