What does it take to please God?
Perfect church attendance? Unshakable positivity? Lots of good deeds?
2 Samuel is the continuation of a story of two kings, David and Saul. Both led the nation of Israel for 40 years, and both struggled in their relationships with God. Saul let pride and insecurity get the better of him. But when David hit rock bottom, he cried out to God for help.
David became known as a man after God’s own heart — not because he was perfect but because he was repentant.
We, too, can be men and women after God’s own heart. Reading about David’s successes and mistakes, we discover what pleases God: faithfulness, patience, courage, generosity, commitment, honesty, repentance, and humility.
Over the next five weeks, get to know one of Israel’s great kings and get a glimpse into God’s heart.
