Ephesians: A 10-Day Devotional

Church looks different all around the world, and all around our state. Some churches meet in buildings, while others meet in houses. Some churches have auditoriums while others have sanctuaries. What makes a church a church is not the building, but the people.

As Jesus’ followers, we are the church. Jesus didn’t come to start a building campaign but to build a family. He set us free from sin in order to restore our relationship with God.

The church family is united by our faith rather than our biology. And just like you don’t stop being related to your family when you leave the house, Ephesians reminds us that our relationship with God is not limited to a gathering on Sunday.

This new life comes with new privileges and responsibilities. When we put our faith in Jesus, we receive His Spirit — not so we can impress others, but so we can serve others. This is a different way of living and thinking that affects everyone. But it starts with those closest to us, our spouses, kids, friends, and coworkers.

We will face opposition for being different. But we won’t face it alone. We’ve got the Holy Spirit to guide us and our church family to support us.
