Session 2
We Were Made To Sing
From Join the Chorus!
“Let them praise the name of the Lord! For he commanded and they were created.” - Psalm 148:5
How often do we forget who we are? As image bearers of God, humans once led all of creation in praise to Him. In our freedom, we chose to sin rather than sing. But God, rich in mercy, made a way for us through the cross of Christ. He has renewed our role through redemption.
We are, once more, the leaders of the creation chorus.
Let the sea roar.
Let the rivers clap their hands.
Let the hills sing for joy.
But let us not be silent. We must lead!
God uniquely gave us words so that we could offer those words back to Him as an offering. He uniquely crafted our voices as an instrument of praise – an instrument made by God, for God. He uniquely gave us a will, so that we can choose to sing, even when we do not feel like it.
If we are silent, be sure creation will cry out (Luke 19:37-40). So let us, with the whole multitude of his disciples, begin to rejoice and praise God with a loud voice for all the mighty works we have seen. Let us say and sing together: “Blessed is the King who comes in the name of the Lord! Peace in heaven and glory in the highest!” Let us sing and not be silent. Let us lead the chorus of creation!
