Keep Your Heart

From Life Hacks

"Keep your heart with all vigilance, for from it flow the springs of life." Proverbs 4:23

To live the life God has for us we must live with an open heart. Oftentimes we live closed off and self-focused. We go through life trying to protect our hearts and by doing so we sometimes exclude God from being near and dear to our hearts. But the Bible does not tell us to close off our hearts.

Proverbs 4:23 says, “Keep your heart with all vigilance, for from it flow the springs of life.” Just as the heart pumps blood out to the rest of your body, your “heart” also pumps out spiritual life. Your heart is the place where God speaks to you. Your heart is what He cares about. It’s not enough to just give Him your mind for understanding or your hands to work for Him; He wants your heart. God wants you to love Him in response to how much He loves you.

Open your heart to God. Ask Him if there are any walls you’ve built up around your heart. Stop believing lies or misconceptions that would keep you from experiencing God’s love and love for God.

Prayer

1) Take an inward look at your heart. Give yourself a heart evaluation. Is your heart healthy and open to give and receive love? Or is it closed and walled off?
2) Ask God to tear down any walls you have built up between you and Him.
3) Reflect on how much God loves you and thank Him.
