Session 3
The Holy Spirit Is Important
From Spirit: Helper, Guide, God
Many of us know about or have at least heard about how God people in one: the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. Often times we overlook the ‘Holy Spirit’ part, and that could be for a number of reasons. Maybe we feel as though the Holy Spirit is the least important of the three, or since the Spirit seems to be intangible we feel like it isn't important, or maybe we just have no clue what it is and we feel weird about it so we try to ignore it. In the book of Acts, Chapter 2, the Bible gives reasons as to why the Holy Spirit should not be overlooked. It tells a story about the Holy Spirit filling a gathering of believers. He talks about how the Holy Spirit filled them and they begin to speak in other languages.
There were people there that were from foreign nations literally from every nation living in Jerusalem and the story explains how they were completely amazed that all these believers were speaking in the languages of all these other nations! This goes to show that the Holy Spirit empowers us to reach any and all nations, regardless of language or cultural barriers. In John chapter 16, Jesus literally tells his disciples that it would be best for us if he went away so that he could send the Holy Spirit to us. We can't overlook the Spirit because He is our experience of God on this side of eternity. This Holy Spirit experience is what pushes us to reach the ends of the earth with the Gospel.
