Session 3
Enjoy Being With God
From Presence: With Us. In Us. Through Us.
Read: Psalm 16:11
In God’s presence there is fullness of joy. It’s kind of like hanging out with your best friend. Overtime you two build trust with each other, and you can expect that anytime you hang out with God it will be a good time. When we spend time with God He will show us new things, introduce us to more of who He is, and invite us in on what He’s up to. It’s like going on an adventure with God when we’re in His presence.
You and your best friend don’t do the same thing every single day. How boring would it be if you and your BFF met up at the same restaurant every day for the past three years, sat at the same booth, ordered the same thing every day, and had the same conversation over and over again? That would be the most boring friendship you’ve ever had. You’d probably be trying to make a new best friend pretty fast.
If we are not careful our “time with God” can start to feel like that; very robotic and routine. The problem is not that God is boring, because there is so much wonder and depth to discovering who He is and who we are. The problem is we tend to treat Him like our scary boss and not enough like a friend.
Friends have fun together and do new and exciting things. Jesus wants us have the same relationship with Him. Try switching up the place where you do your quiet time in your house. Read on your back porch, or in the floor of your bedroom. Find a place to meet with God that mixes it up in a good way! Just spend time with Him.
When you feel the slightest bit of boredom in your time with The Lord, take that as a sign to change something up and try something new and fun with Him. Try something new this week!
