Session 10
In Christ, Sin Doesn’t Win!
From The Gospel: Five Words You Need to Know
READ:
• Romans 6:1–14
• 2 Corinthians 5:17
• 1 Corinthians 15:56–57
“...sin will have no dominion over you, since you are not under law but under grace.” —Romans 6:14
“...thanks be to God, who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.”—1 Corinthians 15:57
For the Christian, sin doesn’t win! Jesus defeated sin and death by dying on the cross and then raising from the dead. Now anyone that believes in Jesus for the forgiveness of their sin is dead to sin and alive to God (Rom 6:11). We are made brand new by the grace of Christ Jesus and sin has no more power over us. In Christ we are not sinners, we are completely cleansed, completely restored, and completely forgiven. The victory over sin is ours in Christ Jesus.
RESPOND:
• Jesus has already defeated sin and death. Are you living as though you are victorious over sin?
• Are you able to claim this victory over sin? Have you believed Jesus to be your savior? • Don’t let the enemy tell you otherwise, will you practice reminding yourself that sin has no power over you in Jesus? Take a minute and write down a few things that help you remember the victory you have.
